7 Seffner, FL Seffner, FL Part-time Part-time 11 hours ago 11 hours ago 11 hours ago Working under the direction of the Wellness Director, in a team-oriented, high volume, fast-paced, fitness driven role, the Wellness Coach provides exercise education and safety to members on the wellness floor.
This is achieved by assisting them in their health and wellness goals through member engagement, orientation assessments and providing a safe and clean environment for all to use.
The wellness coach will consistently exhibit behaviors and attitudes that are consistent with the YMCA Mission and policies of the Association.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND
Responsibilities:
Wellness Center Operations:
Adheres to the Association operating policies and procedures by operating the programs within the guidelines set forth.
Maintains and cleans equipment and any wellness related rooms according to the schedule or as requested by supervisor/leadership.
Ensures that the highest quality of service is provided.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Wellness Director.
Follows YMCA policies and procedures regarding the safety, health and welfare of members, program participants, guests and staff; responds to emergency situations in accordance to facility policies and certification requirements.
Completes all job related meetings and trainings as required.
All job related certifications are maintained and kept in an active status.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Member Engagement and Orientations:
Create exercise routines through member orientations and makes recommendations that are within the coach's scope of experience and education.
Provide and manage health objectives to help members maximize and maintain healthy lifestyles.
Provides continuous education regarding risk factor modification and pre-established goal accomplishments to participants.
Collect and analyze data to identify member needs to encourage healthy lifestyles.
Assists participants in creating goals that are achievable.
Demonstrates confidentiality between the coach and the member.
Applicant must exhibit the following qualities:

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Must be at least 18 years of age or older Applicant must be able to:
Smile and greet members as they enter the wellness floor Create and maintain eye contact Experience with active listening techniques and interpersonal skills.
Speak enthusiastically Make emotional connection with members/guests/and program participants Represent the YMCA in a positive manner.
Preferred candidates:
Have prior work/volunteer experience in the fitness industry Have prior work/volunteer experience in customer service Are proficient in using email, internet and other PC related applications.
Willing to learn and adapt to new technology.
Have the ability to understand, adapt to and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives and cultures.
Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must have flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
Ability to lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme humidity/dampness, heat and cold.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
